The BBC reports that the economic effect from using nanotechnologies in certain areas will benefit Russia more than all the nuclear and space projects of former USSR, First Deputy Prime Minister Sergey Ivanov has said.
"Scientists and specialists believe that the use of certain nanotechnologies will give us more than all the nuclear and space projects of the Soviet Union altogether," Ivanov said at a meeting with Russian youth activists today.
He called the development of nanotechnologies "a breakthrough" project, recalling that this year alone over R130bn will be channelled into the state nanotechnologies corporation, which is to be formed this year.
"The first session of the council for nanotechnologies will be held in late July," Ivanov said, adding that the council would comprise scientists, MPs and government representatives.
Nanotechnology is on its way to revolutionise each and every sector of life. Scientists/Researchers are finding ways to marketize and trying to make it accessible to common man. However it would take some time, but we need to invest more and more in this novel field of Science and Technology which is very much promising. This is how exciting and challenging it is?
